Have been putting it off but we really do need a complete new kitchen.Dread the thought but it has to be done.(Roughly 17ftx12ft).Any recommendations as to reliable companies (not Moben, had one years ago,the kitchen was brilliant but the installers were rubbish). Has anyone had this done recently, and if so was it painless or excruciating. Thanks for any comments.
looking into this recently myself and found a small local firm will design and build you a bespoke kitchen that's easily a price/quality match for a chain company - the one I'm using is also happy to point you to previous customers for references
Not sure if it is any use but my last one I bought units from the Internet and did it myself (well actually still bits left to do :-O ) Unsure I'd recommend DIY to others having been through it once (plenty of practical problems I had to find & fix as I went) but the option of buying the units you like and getting a local fitter to install it may not be a bad idea.
Go around a couple of kitchen shops get their designers in to look at your kitchen if you don't know what changes you'd like made and then use their designs.
And I totally agree about getting a local fitter in.
Nice units but I was less keen on the attention given once they sell you stuff though. Would have thought DIY in their name would make it obvious there would be a number of queries afterwards. I did have communication with them a couple of times but I had to keep at it, they seemed reluctant. And their advice wasn't always right. If you get someone else to fit though, they probably know it all without asking.
I used http://www.diy-kitchens.com as well and given some great advice on what unit sizes I needed. The units were great and I got a local fitter to fit mine too.
Thank you all for your interesting and helpful answers. I think you are right about getting a local fitter to fit it so am thinking about getting a few quotes from firms locally.I still dread it though,I hate mess.
