I'm In A Quandary About What Color Drapes For Large Sliding Patio Doors.

I have a living room, dining room combo (9' x 18' with hall) with large sliding glass doors. My walls are a sort of just bland neutral light beige and I can't paint them because I live where we're not allowed to change the color. I've been pondering for MONTHS on what kind of drapes to purchase. I'm putting sheers behind the drapes....but I'm in a real quandary. I LOVE red, but I'm concerned that a whole wall of red drapes may be too much for my room and will just "blast" RED when someone walks in. But if I get light beige, I'm just blending in with the walls and it adds no color. Do you have any ideas on this or is it just a personal matter? Thanks in advance.

What colour are your other soft furnishings?

Go for vertical blinds and have red and another colour alternating.

First off, the rest of my furnishings are beige with a dark brown recliner...all with red accents scattering the room. Next: after seeing the pics from the link daffy654 sent, I'm not concerned. These "small" rooms looked great with red drapes. Next from flump1, I already have vertical blinds. These are what I'm trying to cover up....I hate the bland look of them. Thanks to ALL of you for the great suggestions. I think I'm going with my red....YEA!!!
