Can anyone recommend a very light grey, almost beige grey for my lounge. I have been looking at dulux but everythign is so dark?

40YY 65/061 would be my recommendation. Buy a test pot.

Try Homebase Sanctuary Soft Feather - it's a lovely soft pale grey. You should be able to get a tester.
