Due t beig done in the kitchen it we will be moving the Fridge/freezer into the lounge. Will it be necessary to leave it switched OFF for a while to settle down as when a ne is fitted which I believe is 24 hrs ?
Absolutely yes. Any time ur fridge ir fridge/freezer is moved it must be left off for at least 8 hours. This allows all the "gases" to settle down. Failure to do this can damage the workings.
Funnily enough I tend to agree with all above. You should leave it to settle, it would be difficult to claim it wasn't your fault if you don't, but I would suspect if you didn't, nothing much untoward would actually occur.
If the unit is being moved a short distance and is kept more-or-less upright, you can plug it in straight away.
The "let it settle" advice is for when the unit has been transported distances involving being tipped in different directions.
