Hi, I have accidentally scratched a tan leather sofa and have been told that if I use a brown felt pen it should polish in - surely this can't be true! Does anyone know of any repair on the market to blend in the scratch before I launch myself at the sofa? Thank you.
You're welcome bossychloe - I'm just glad it worked!
I only suggested it, as apart from my shoes & boots, I sometimes give my leather bags the once over with 'shoe' polish & they come up like new - although I'm always changing them! I used to do the same with my briefcases, but thankfully don't use them anymore!
Deep scratches in leather furniture may be scuffed and dirty, so before you attempt to repair the area, make sure it’s clean first. Take a clean cloth and dip it in rubbing alcohol, then lightly buff the scratched area.
Rubbing alcohol dries quickly. Let the area sit for about 10 minutes, and it should be dry.
This method works most effectively with finished leather. If you have a deep cut in aniline leather, it may be irreparable.
