Egg on carpet

Unfortunately I was unaware that an egg had been broken on the carpet in the rear of my car. I have tried cleaning with 1001 carpet cleaner but a terrible smell remains. Any idea how I can get rid of this?

A steam cleaner will do the job.

Make a paste using water and bicarbonate of soda cover the area leave to dry and vacuum off. This worked for me after a carton of milk leaked in the footwell in my car.
