Hi mycats
woodchip is a devil to get off, but to make it easier, score the paper with a scraper then soak it with water mixed with fabric conditoner or washing up liquid, That makes it a lot easier to strip.
Good Luck. I do not envy you
Perhaps a wallpaper steamer might help, it did the job for us when we had some stubborn wallpaper to strip.
yea we moved last year and our lounge was covered in woodchip. I used a steamer and I scored lines in the paper. it took a while but I found once i had done the first wall, the others were much easier as the steam had really loosened it.
And be careful - maybe wear rubber gloves. I remember helping someone to strip off some of this horrid paper, and ended up with a small piece of woodchip under my finger nail. V painful!
To score the surface, get hold of a perforator tool for a couple of quid from your local DIY store. It's a small spiked wheel with a handle that you roll over the wallpaper to prick holes in it. (It looks like a Mexican rowel spur). It's certainly faster and much easier to use than a knife, with less chance of damaging the wall surface.
Use a spray bottle with Cruella's suggestion of a little washing-up liquid added to the water. Adding vinegar would work too, since these liquids improve the wetting effect of the water.
