When I had my washing machine repaired the plumber told me on no account to use it, but to do a really hot wash once a week. This seems to have worked so far.
I used to work on washing machines before calgon was invented. yes, they had limscale around the element and rubber bits inside, but I doubt if any problem I fixed was due to limescale corrosion, some of the machines I saw had been in use for 10 years. so I shouldn't waste your money,

The amount spent on all these hard water tablets can add up over the years. I suggest you invest in one of the modern water softeners that attach to your cold water supply. Believe me one you have sampled the water in your bath and showers you will wonder how you have managed without one. You will also use less soap and washing powder.
