I've got a butler sink in my kitchen, which I'm happy with but can anyone recommend something to stop my plates being chipped when I wash up? Sink removal or dishwasher not an option!

cant you use a bowl in the sink?
Hi Annabella, you can buy a basket drainer to go inside the sink which will stop plates actually touching the ceramic. They are around 20,you just need the right size.
do you mean belfast sink ?
Annabella - I'm sure I read somewhere you should lay some rubber matting down in the sink base first, something anyway that will stay on the base as you fill it up.

Thank you all for your input,
gina-I'm trying to avoid anything bulky
barb-that's the kind of thing I was thinking about, any idea who would sell them?
stuelwell-I think it's the same, big white creamic sink, no divider
skyep-I did debate a shower mat and cut it down :)
Hi again Annabella.Do you know the make of your sink? Mine is a ceramic Franke (1 week old which explains my interest!) and I just Googled 'basket drainer' and found some.I reckon you just need the measurements.Good luck.
Just found one on John Lewis but it's black which you might not like. It's 15.00 but not sure of the size.Hope that helps.

Not sure the make as it was a nightmare from MFI (don't ask!) I'll have to get the measurements and Google away!
There's a rubber mat here:

This is exactly why we all ripped those sinks out in the 40s and 50s.

And the water goes cold very quickly in them.
Ah yes Ethel but they were very useful for bathing the baby or the dog....not necessarily at the same time. :o)
Robinia, I got dreadful backache because they are so low.

But you're right about bathing the baby. :)
