How do you clean a leather chair?
4 Answers
I am a lovely tan coloured leather chair and 'someone' (no-one is admitting to this) has sat down and rested their head against the back while wearing some greasey hair products in their hair - I have tried to clean it but seem to have made an even bigger mess - can anyone H E L P me please?

I have read many different things about this task - most saying dont do it cause you will get bad results. I think if you clean leather you have to clean all of it because you end up with patches of lighter colour - this bit I do know from experience.
Either Maggie or Kim of How Clean is Your House writes in the Saturday Times and she says as above and advises professional cleaning. I'm sure thats expensive (tho cheaper than resplacement) so will test a few products 1st on a chair with its back against the wall and see how I get on. Good luck. Bring back chair backs and arm slips I say.

Hi - Just to let you know I used DOVE on my chair last night and the stain is definately disappearing! so will go over it again tonight (I did the whole of the back not just stain) Then I think I will need to treat it with polish as it dried the leather a little - a big THANK YOU Chazza and Rabbitgirl.
