does "to draw" (the curtains) mean to open or close them?

Yes it means to close them, and to open them means to errrr open them.

"draw verb (past tense drew , past participle drawn, present participle drawing) ...5 to open or close (curtains)

So it means both.

oo that was quick! Hmm, so I guess it means both then if it's in Chambers'. I wasn't sure, obviously, and this thread would indicate that quite a lot of people aren't either.

Thank you! I can now ask for my curtains to drawn either way with no cause for anxiety!
