I have just had my walls plastered & when i painted the walls the paint started peeling .. so i let the first coat dry n then sanded it down & applied another coat but its still peeling HELP!! x x
On newly plastered walls, you have to apply 2 coats of wash (70% water to 30% paint) before putting on your final coat of paint otherwise the paint will peel.
We have just had one room re-plastered and followed the plasterer's instructions on applying the two washes before painting properly.
The point is that new plaster is very absorbent. So you have to paint it with watered down emulsion as the first coat. When it dries, that seals the surface and stops the water from the second coat getting sucked in and the surface peeling.
Just rub down the loose peely stuff and start again.
