Hot Water Storage Cylinder
I had a new bathroom installed in September 2003. This included a brand new 1200 x 450 mm high recovery hot water storage cylinder with secondary hot tapping.
A leak has been detected where the hot water pipe exits the cylinder and albeit a slow leak sufficient water has leaked out and gone through the floorboards resulting in water coming through the kitchen ceiling which is when I realised there was a leak. I called in an emergency plumber who has indicated that the seal is damaged and this means a new hot water storage cylinder.
Does anyone know what the guarantee period is on these items?
As this is not even 5 years old, is the contractor who installed the system obliged to attend and replace the cylinder as it appears that there may have been an inherent fault on the cylinder?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I fear that they will not have given you more than a couple of years in either case but it is worth enquiring just give both parties a ring and see what they say !!! But you will find it hard to prove that it has not sustained a knock or any abuse over the period of time it has been insalled. Quite frankly i am sorry to say that i think you would have more success at platting fog than getting a replacement gratis.
