I need to refloor my kitchen - I was thinking of getting natural slate floor tiles - are they hardwearing enough for quite a large area?

I found our welsh slate floor tiles extremely hard wearing. only slight drawback was the grout was dark grey - like the tiles - and when mopping the floor - over a period of time it went a browny muddy grey from the dirty water being mopped over it. So each year in the summer with the windows wide open, we re-seal the tiles with a very stinky varnish kind of solution. takes just minutes with a mop and it looks like a brand new floor again.

Definitely Hays.............and classy....just like you :o)

Hi Nosha123 Welsh slate? I didnt think of that but will defo check it out.

I actually did look at some sites this morning and picked out a couple of black/grey slates and have sent for samples. I was just a bit concerned that it would not be hardwearing but after reading the descriptions I think it will be LOL

The builder - hey, do you want a wee job in the new year LOL
