shower pressure

hi everyone, having fitted a thermostatic shower then findig out there's not enough hot water pressure, i have a question; i am going to fit a 1.5 bar shower pump,on the pump it states u cannot connect to the water main,now the problem is the hot comes from a tank and the cold comes from the main.what is the best way round this problem? is it to reduce the cold pressure with a pressure reducing valve or to take a cold feed from the tank that feeds the hot. any answers would be greatly appreciated thanks

Hi Paul - a pressure valve only addresses the ..... er ..... pressure. The "flow" (volume of water flowing) is also important.
I've done this myself by doing what you suggest - take the cold supply from the (roofspace) cistern - then you'll have precisely equal pressures and flows - well, near as makes no difference anyway.
Your cistern should be big enough to take the demand from two outlets :o)

Hi yes and I am sure you need to run it in 22mm on hot and cold feeds reduced to 15mm next to the pump and 15mm run to shower mix with auto air valves in any over top runs from the pump hth Tez
