Box room furnishing

My box room,already tiny,has the stairwell jutting into it,enclosed(aptly)by a box which takes up approaching one quarter of the area.The room has to be a bedroom but I cannot afford the special space saving beds.There is room for a single bed but what to do with the box?I need storage but building a wardrobe on top will result in the room being overtaken by it.Any ideas for websites etc?

As Zac say, build storage adjacent to the 'box' to the same height as the top of the 'box', making the length the same length as a bed. Then put a decent mattress on the top of it.
