I have roughly 900metres of worktop in my kitchen - any idea how much it will cost to replace these I don't want the cheapest but neither do i want the most expensive and would prefer laminate type to wood . Janet.

Geez - you must have the longest kitchen in the whole of the UK.
On the basis that this should read 0.9 metres, it is still a 'how long is a piece of string' question.
There are a plethora of different qualities of work-top and if you want a 'chappie' to come and fit it for you, it is going to cost roughtly the same if you want him to fit 0.9 metres as 9 metres - (but not 900 metres - that costs a little extra).

Suggestion - beetle off to HomeBase this weekend and see what you like and compare prices - you will have to buy a minimum length which I would hazard a guess will be 2 metres. Then trawl Yellow Pages for a few fitters.
900 metres that's some worktop..with the cheapest tops that should cost about £9000.

There are two thicknesess of the common worktop... 28mm and 38mm.
You will more than likely have to buy a 2 metre length.... last week I paid £25 for 2mtrs... of 28mm.
38mm starts around £40 for a 2 metre length.
Also you dont seem to get the same amount of options with 28mm as you do with 38m.
B&Q, in my opinion is better than homebase.

REally sorry, metres are a foreign language to me at 75. My kitchen is 17 feet long approx and i have just measured in yards and the tops are roughly 10 yards which I believe is about 11 metres, where I got 900 metres from who knows. anyway thanks for your answers and I'm sure I gave you all a good laugh and that can only be a good thing, thanks again for taking the time to answer, i love this site. Janet
10 yards is 9.1 metres
17feet = 4.3 meters.

Thank you Tambourine and Canary but as far as trying to teach me metric - I am a lost cause, I'm afraid. Until this country commits fully to one system or the other I shall stick with what I know and by then I will be long gone!!!!! Thanks for taking the trouble Janet
Ooops... Tamborine's conversion is somewhat in error - 17 feet ain't 4.3 metres, it's 5.18 metres. Hope you haven't started cutting anything yet!!
ur right Heathfield....a lot different from tomking's 900m.

5.18m (just over 5yards) tomking - is that visible ?
