Towels

18 months ago,I bought some deep red towels for my new bathroom. They have been washed many times but they are still leaving red fluff all over the bathroom. Any solutions please as to how to stop this.

Replace them with better quality ones.

the fluff is a booger...we got rid of some nice navy towels for the same reason and I now only buy pale ones...sorry no suggestions though

Excuse me but I bought them from Debenhams. They were not cheap.

Mine are good quality as well. We now use them for drying the dogs

Are your dogs navy blue or don't they mind the fluff woofgang?

Have you tried tumble drying them pamnez?

If you use fabric conditioner when you wash them, then don't. Debenhams used to display this advice in their towel sales section. It makes the fibres slippery and leads to fibre loss. On the other hand, if you don't use fabric conditioner, then I'm afraid that Count-A-Strong is probably right - the towels will have been made using short-fibre thread. This makes them cheaper to produce, but results in the problem you have.

Heathfield, I have never used conditioner on my towels. I do suspect that all towels shed fluff to a certain extent but its not so noticeable with the pale colours.

My BLACK M&S towels don't shed......

I tumble dry my towels, fluff comes off them and I don't have the weeping problem any more, I have dark colours and I can now tumble them with clothing and not have to pick off afterwards.

I got black M&S towels, they were awful, gave them to the charity shop in the end.
All my lighter coloured M&S ones have been fine.

the more expensive towels moult, i find if you don't wash them in fabric conditioner and let then rough up a little bit, the fluff should eventually go away.

Interesting comments - I never ever use fabric conditioner so I've never considered that that might add to the problem. My towels are soft and fluffy with only wash tablets in the machine.
