Danish Oil is usually OK for light woods
Second Scotman's recommendation.

Has the furniture been treated with wax or oil previously?

It is from the Milton range at Laura Ashley
It says it has been lightly oiled but needs re-oiling from time to time
I also have the sonoma light bedroom stuff from M&S
I don't want it to go shiny
