Council House Rent

Ball-park figures, how much do council rents differ from private, for a similar size and type of property? I'm guessing that the council rent would be quite a bit cheaper.

Round here you might get a social rented one bed for about £400 a month whereas a private one would be about £650 upwards, as an illustration.
