residential mortgage and a buy to let mortgage
2 Answers
is it better to have one in my name and one in my partner's name or both in both our names. We are getting married in a year - will that change everything anyway? Basically we both have a house and we want to sell one and buy somewhere bigger tther whilst keeping the remianing house as a rental. Impartial advice on this matter seems expensive and although I am reasonably intelligent even comparison sites only let you consider one mortgage at a time whereas i wanted to look at them together.

Yes you can, if you buy the house in both names the party not on the mortgage will have to sign a Letter of Consent. However you will have to meet all the mortgage repayments and salary multiples on the applicants sole income. The Buy to let will come under its own rules based on the rental income.
