Didn't know which category to put this in ! I want to hide a spare door key in the storage bench in my garden. How can I prevent it from going rusty?

Wrap it in clingfilm?
I'd lightly oil it before wrapping in cling film.
Lightly spray with WD40 or a smear of vaseline on key and then wrap in clingfilm and or put in an old airtight tobacco tin.

Many thanks, everyone. Not sure where I'll find an old tobacco tin, retrocop, but I'm sure I can improvise !!
or a little Tupperware-type box, and fill the box with screws etc to disguise the fact that there's a key in it.

Love the rock !! I've oiled and clingfilmed and put it in a little Tupperware box and then, should I ever need it, I expect I'll forget where I put it. Perhaps I should put a note on my back door saying "Spare key in storage chest". What do you think??????
A small magnet will fix to metal pipe or stick to plastic pipe with sticky tape.
I like the idea of putting a reminder on the back door. Should be helpful for when you have - erm - "visitors".
