Estate Agent Mix Up

Went to view a property on Tuesday at 3.15 (its not on the internet - only just gone on sale) - offer (full asking price and cash too) emailed - as requested - on Wednesday morning - heard nothing - called today to see if they had seen my email - they had not! Told me its been taken off sale as an offer has been accepted! I asked if they had seen my email - they hadn't and they needed to go back to the vendor to tell them my offer - whether I ultimately get the property or not I shall contact the head office to complain

I doubt they'd do anything if they claim to have not seen the email.

With such an expensive purchase it's best to do things face to face.

I believe that they're legally obliged to put any offer to the vendor even if it's off the market, it happened to us and made for a very long weekend!

There were quite specific about the process needed to be followed - which was email bids only

They have just rung me to say they have contacted the owner - he/she wants both bidders to review there offer and get back to them in an hour with best and final - I have emailed them to re state my first offer stands - I will not be getting involved in a bidding war again

No good to you now, Ric, but for next time, tick the email box that requests a receipt. They have to click on an acknowledgement.

Agents can be bad. I made an offer on a place before I bought the one I have now. Waited a while, heard nothing. Went to the agents to be told that the offer had been rejected. Asked why I'd not been told, was told, "Well you weren't going to make a second offer were you ?" Point being I'd have had the opportunity to do so but having been ignored they had now sold to someone else. They weren't the only agents in town, fortunately.

No it wasn't sealed bids and the instructions were adamant about email only offers - she readily admitted that she was 'two days behind' with her email
