what is the lergest size shed/workshop i can build in my garden without planing permission i would like to construct it in blocks/rendered with a pitched slate roof with electrics and water for a sink with drainage.

Go to the link below and read the link very carefully. It depends on proposed volume, height, proximity to the existing house and whether you live in a 'special' area (e.g. Conservation etc).

you could also phone up your local planning office who will give you all the advice you need. or you could just build it and keep quiet and hope the neighbours don't complain.
They might do, but they probably won't. Planners don't like Permitted Development Rights, which is what this process is.

thankyou buidersmate for the web site very interesting seems like i need planning permission to change the use of my house to a part residential/buisness but not to build the structure.
Oh yes, you definitely would need to apply for PP for a change of use - you didn't say this in the original post.
