bathroom ventilation
from a tenant point of view, other than a small window in the bathroom there is no ventilation, people keep telling me it should have an expelair or similar but the estate agents that manage the property say 'oh no you'll be fine - just open the window!' but ceiling covered in condensation and their answer to that was to paint over it with 'special paint' but its now coming back and i am not happy, tried ringing district council but they only work for an hour on the 2nd thursday of every month or something equally pathetic! i want to insist that something is done so i can say 'Look by law you have to install one etc etc' but i need to know whether it is or not so i dont end up looking an idiot

In additon, a few minutes spent each time you have a shower/bath removing the moisture from the obvious sources should be sufficient.
Condensation usually leads to black mould so if you don't have this it is something other than this. Probaly a leak somewhere.

curlyperm, from the tenants point of view, to make sure you dont get charged at the end of your tenancy for any damage caused by condensation or mold, put your concerns in writing to the agent. Tell that the ceiling paint isn't working, that you keep the window open (I assume you do?) etc etc. This will at least put you in the clear come the end of your tenancy.
