Is he with you now and how long has he been there? Seriously tho surveyors are either there to value for your buyers mortgage co or the buyers have paid for a proper survey to check your house is sound. If the latter and your house is perfect no problem but if he finds something your buyer will reduce their offer ( approx by the amount any remedial work will cost) or ask you to sort it before they carry on buying. It doesn't matter to the surveyor what your house is like - its his job to value and or report on its condition.
if your buyers have paid for a full home survey, then the surveyor checks for things like:
any structural damage
damp/damp proof course
roof tiles that may need replacing
condition of render
condition of brickwork (e.g. does anything need re-pointing)
general decor
wear and tear of kitchen / bathroom units
flooring - carpets or floor boards that may need replacing
etc

They are not employed to 'make the purchaser happy' but are independently trying to guage whether the price agreed for the property is in line with any work needing carrying out.
surely you must have employed a surveyor to do the same thing when you initially purchased the house yourself....?
if not, make sure you do in the future! it could save your bacon!
