Does anyone know how I can become qualified to carry out HIP (Home Information Pack) surveys? I am an architectural technitian so do have a level of understanding in terms of environment and building technology. Where can I get hold of the information?
Thanks :-)

It involves studying to get a diploma. Info here. There are many training providers that are accredited.

I'd be cautious about investing too much in this.

Certainly in the first case it'll only be houses with 4 or more bedrooms which is a minority of houses. Then a number of people will avoid them by selling as 3 bedrooms and a study etc.

The house of Lords has already called for the legislation to be revoked and the National Association of Estate Agents is opposed to it too.

With the prospect of an election in the not too distant future I can see the distinct possibility of all this being withdrawn in a year or two in which case you'll have wastedyour time aand money
I agree with you Jake. And there are lots of people who are already trained up. I'd want to check out how much work they are getting from this before investing me money.

Thanks for your anwsers - I'll look into the costs and see what kind of commitment it would take. I guess a major problem would be insurance too (yet more costs!)
I would not spend a lot of money qualifying for HIPS. With luck the whole stupid scheme will be scrapped soon!
