You can get help with insulation and heating, that sort of thing.

But I am not aware of any grants for routine maintenance.

Contact you local Help the Aged - they will know what is available in your specific area.

My mum and dad (both pensioners) got new central heating, the house rewired, new windows and external doors and a new roof on the garage. They had to pay something like �1000 towards the cost but the rest was covered. My dad is in receipt of DLA so don't know if this made a difference.
