fall out with neighbour

i need to gain access on to my neighbours roof to carry out maintenance on the side elevation of my dorma extension.
my neighbour has refused to grant my builder permission to carry out the repairs. what can i do?

You may well have to write to him quoting the Party Wall Act 1996, Rob. This not only covers building work at adjoining boundaries, but where you require access to his side to do essential maintenance. Download the useful booklet from this site and read it - there are template letters in the back. In the booklet it talks about party wall surveyors - you should not need to go that far for mere maintenance work.

thanks builders mate for your reply. i thought about that but as the dorma is not a party wall i didn't think the act would apply
