to rent out or not

i bought my council property approx 1 year ago, but i hav now met somebody and we would like to move in together, i know that i am not allowed to sell my property as it was purchased from the council, but was wondering if anyone knows if i am allowed to rent it out? I will contact the council wen i know for def that i am moving out i am just thinkin about my options at the mo.
