Building Plans
We bought our bungalow about 12 months ago.We have just found out that one part of the building used to be a prefab. There was no mention of this in the estate agents blurb or from the previous owners(who had the house built). We have just remorgaged as our fixed rate had ended, the new mortgage company did a survey and did not pick up on this either!! Question is how do we stand if we wanted to sell as the building is part non standard construction?

1 Do you know for sure it is non standard. Prefab is not necessarily the same as NSC
2 The mortgage survey was probably just a valuation - this wouldn't be picked up
3 If it was a structural survey, the surveyor is mainly interested in the present condition of the building - although he'd be interested in confirming the building has a decent life expectancy.
4 I think you may possibly be making a lot of assumptions that will worry you for no reason...............hope so :o)

Thanks for the answers.Just wondered why it had not been picked up on two seperate surveys but as you said it was only valuation survey so all they were intererested in was that it was worth lending the money on!!!!
The prefab part of the building takes up about 50% of the bungalow,it's a stone built construction and from what I can make out the stone on the prefab part was bonded to the old walls direct. The rest of the building is standard cavity wall construction but built with stone blocks.
