The only way I can get hot water at the moment is to put on the central heating. The immersion is on economy 7 and it did use to give me enough water to shower each day. My electric meter box was vandalised a couple of weeks ago which defrosted my freezer,'disturbed' my burgular alarm so you can guess I had to pay out quite a bit. Now no hot water. Can anyone advise me as to roughly what price to have it looked at and repaired. Any chance there is a simple remody I could do myself ??

It would seem that the supply to the Economy Seven part of your circuits have become disconnected. The meters inside the box and the wiring up to the point of the main fuse (the sealed electricity company one) are the responsibility of the electricity distribution company, so you really need to contact them. Note that this is the DISTRIBUTION company in your region - who may not necessarily be the company that supplies your electricity. I am not sure what the position is regarding any payment if the wiring has became discontacted because of vandalism.

Many thanks for a speedy answer. I will give the company I buy from a call and go from there. If its too expensive I can always go through Age Concern. They are very good to us pensioners and find tradesmen that dont charge for the call out

Just to let you know Buildersmate I got on to the electric coy.I pay who put me through to the distributor and they are going to re install the economy seven program. The down side is they are so busy they cannot come until June 9th.
Maybe the engineer will be able to show me how to work the boiler because I dont get enough hot water overnight.
The previous owner was a cheapskate so I expect its on the lowest temperature.
But there is NO charge.
Thanks for the info. it was a great help.
