Renting
1 Answers
For the past year I have been renting two bed property. As the landlord was a friend of a friend we did not have any written contract and did not have to give a bond. Since then every month the rent has been paid in cash with no recipets given. I am now in the situation where I cannot afford to live there any longer and will not be able to afford next months rent so will be moving back home to my mothers but within a few days so Im only giving the landlord these few days notice. Is there anything they can hold me liable for not giving more than this?

As youve been there a year the minimum notice period would be 1 month but, to be honest, I doubt if the landlord would bother pursuing you for it as they havent even bothered with a written contract or taken a deposit. You will have to pay your utilities bills up to date though, as this will be for services you have used, so take readings and let the companies know.
