I want to hire or buy a carpet cleaning device. Any suggestions, considering effectiveness, ease-of-use etc?

bissell....excellent machine cleans almost as well as a rental and lighter to use.

My wife uses a Bex Bissell and find`s it a good piece of equipment, except it doesn`t have a stairs accessory.
