If you don't have very much then you might consider Evo-Stik Adhesive Cleaner.
This will work but it is quite expensive, flammable and toxic. You should be able to get it from good hardware shops. Needs careful handling and lots of ventilation when using.
Otherwise get into with scrapers and things.

Thanks scotman, I will price it up and see if it's worth it. I have tried scraping it but the scrapers get messy and you need something to clean them, so it's back to square one. Kath.
Give white spirit a go. Everybody's got some lurking in the shed or under the sink.
Would wd40 work
Those cleaning women on tv (can't remember names) use it for this kind of thing

Thanks Ric.ror and carrust, I will give them a try. Kath.
Isopropyl alcohol will dissolve and remove all adhesive normally used on self adhesive tapes and labels and it is also very good at removing many/most inks. It is very readily available abroad (petrol station shops, etc.) but I am unsure where best to look for it in your area. It is not generally expensive and is not obnoxious either.
