What is the average cost to employ a bricklayer by the day.

Page 6 on here suggests £170 per day, but it will vary according to where in the country you are - more rural areas will be cheaper than city rates http://www.estimators...m/samples/ext_smm.pdf
at least £100 a day, especially if he is a good trowel....Beware of chancers.

Asking to see his previous jobs is a must! There's nothing that looks worse than bad brickwork, it's also very expensive to put right.
Depends on the job, Thumbs. They often like to quote per thousand bricks, but, for daywork, I agree with what the others have said.
Around £160, but my local guy is £130.
