How to remove oil smell.

I have received a pair of motorbike panniers off eBay that had an oily residue on it.

I have washed it a few times now and even though the oil has gone the smell remains, and quite powerful too!

Is there anything I can do to get rid of the smell please?

About the only way would be to soak them in liquid washing detergent in a bath somewhere.
