Rotary airer and patio

Our back yard is fully paved and I want to install a rotary airer.

What would be the easiest/simplest way to fit the ground-spike?

I assume I need to drill or chisel away the corner of one slab but I am concerned that hammering the spike home may distort the surface in some way.

Any advice appreciated.

I think I'd lift a slab, Matt. You can then cut it accurately to fit around the pole. (If you don't have an angle grinder, drill several holes with a masonry bit, and join them up with a hammer and chisel)

lift a slab....put in your spike and put some cement where the tile was and push some attractive cobble in a pattern around it or if it's soil underneath fill the space with some low growing thymes ... in warm weather they will give off aromatic oils to give your clothes a slight out doorsy mediterannean smell

Can they be used in a parasol stand?? or is that a daft idea ha ha

looks so much micer when the airer is out of the spike... munstead dwarf lavender works too but is harder to keep compact,,,
