Sealing a laminate floor

We have just installed a laminate floor in the bathroom but didn' use Aqua Loc as we couldn't get the right shade. Is there any products for sealing laminate edges to make it more water resistant? Can we varnish the floor? We looked at Ronseal Floor Seal but it's inappropriate for this job. Thanks!

I hope you used a laminate product that was recommended for occasional wet areas, such as your bathroom.  If you didn't, your problems are only beginning, regardless of any sealing.  If you did, the edges are probably hidden under your mop board (I think it's called skirting in the UK), and will be difficult to seal now.  The most important thing to attempt is to seal near your tub/shower area. This can be done with a vinyl product made for such an area. It adheres to the tub/shower bottom edge and also the floor.   It's trimmable and has an adhesive backing.  It should be available at any DIY source.  Don't, please, varnish or otherwise finish the flooring.  The top layer of the laminate is sealed under pressure and any applied finish now will not penetrate and would probably not even dry properly.  Having said all that, best of luck!

We didnt seal our laminate floor in the bathroom. Had no problems at all and its been done for over a year now!

i have installed numerous laminates in bathrooms, what i have done and still do is get silicone sealant transparent in colour cut my beading to size before placing the sealant and lots of it in the edges, then place the beading on top of the sealant and pressing it hard into place the silcone then comes out at the sides and you just wipe off the excess there is generally no need to tac the beading as the silicone sticks it like clue and you have a sealed unit.  i haven't had any problems before i also do this in kitchens especially near the sink and washing machines.

I put laminate down in my bathroom.It was not meant for bathrooms but has been down at least 8 years and still looks good.I also made the bath panel out of laminat.what we do is vacume it wash it in warm water with touch disinfectant and when dry, use a product called, Pledge multipurpose floor wax . It's a liquid and when you apply it follow the grain on the pattern as not to make it patchy. I use a slightly damp heavy floor cloth. Hope this helps. I am Dennis North Yorkshire, UK.
