Ivy Tarantulas

Whats the best way to kill ivy so it never comes back? Its been in the garden years as ground cover but is going up the house. I asked my son to cut it back and he said there were huge spiders in it... hes not bothered about spiders so if he says they are huge they must be monstrous!!! The day after he cut a lot of it back I saw a spider like a dinner plate in the house... I need the ivy to die or I will have to move!

Will weed killer do it? Someone said to use diesel but I don't have a petrol can to get any :(

Cut it down to below earth level and get some Brushwood Killer, then soak it in that, and cover the stem with black plastic tied around stem. Cover wirh soil and forget it. I did mine several years ago when we could get creasote but now it`s not sold.

thanks carlton.... someone suggested cresote but i couldnt find any anywhere...guess thats why
