removing nail varnish from leather

Help! I have a dollop of cerise pink nail varnish on a brown leather sofa. How do I get it off?
I'm guessing varnish remover would damage the leather?

You probably will not be able to find acetone .. but just try a little nail varnish remover. The oil in it might help rather than hinder you too.
It 'might' even peel off when hard (if you're lucky)

wd40 may soften it it's amazing the things wd40 wiil do try in discreet area first

be careful if you try to peel it off it you may pull off the top dressing of the leather

I'm going to try the acetone, but I haven't actually got any so will get some tomorrow.
I've tried picking/peeling it off, but because it's kind of smudged on, it's quite thin so nothing to really grab hold of... if you get my drift.

I don't think I have any Wd40, either. I'll see how I get on with the acetone, and then give that one a go.

Just an update on the sofa situation.... it's not good :(
Got some acetone and tried it on a hidden area underneath. Was fine.
Dabbed the nail varnish with it, and it's left a patchy mark. It's gone almost Orange in colour.

Wish I'd just left it now...

As a last resort, you can try shaving foam on it. Squirt some on, leave it then dab it off. Shouldn't do any harm, but maybe better check underneath first.

Ladyalex, I think it's too late for that. I appear to have taken some of the leather off :(

D9, that may work actually! I'm just wondering if the area where it's now patchy, will look different to the rest. Worth a go, I guess.

I had white paint on a black leather jacket and got it off with white spirit. Try somewhere inconspicuous first.

use a proper leather cleaner to remove any residues then use shoe polish on the mark building up the colour a little at a time finish with neutral to buff up

you might have to mix light tan/brown/black to get the right shade

I think the "shoe polish" idea is my only option left. Thanks for all the help and tips :-)
