gravel driveway predicament

We have just made a gravel driveway using MOT and the decorative gravel to go on top, and unfortunately the car has got stuck on it. We've tried allsorts to get it off the drive, from putting it in second gear to driving very slowly but the wheels just keep on spinning.

We're going to try with putting mats underneath the wheels tomorrow, see if that helps but its only a temporary solution.

Does anybody have any ideas of what to do here. will using a whacker to wack it down be any use. Will it bed in over time??

All we can think of is ordering more MOT to put under the gravel but that could be an issue to get up the gravel?

what's MOT? I thought with all these new-laid surfaces, you are supposed to leave it a given time before putting a vehicle on it. Aren't you supposed to use the whacker first, to make the more solid surface?

MOT Type 1 is basically 20mm granite chips. This is a mistake many people make. You only want about 2" max of 'loose' gravel. If you haven't compacted the type 1, thats loose too and you will bog in (as you have found!). If you have already spun the wheels and 'dug in' to holes, its hard to get out. Tow out with another vehicle is best (but very slowly), otherwise scrape away the front and rear edges of the 'hole' to make a ramp out and use reverse if you can (usually the lowest gear) or first..no revs..and just feather the clutch to put as little torque into the wheels as you can. Once you get out of the holes, don't boot the gas! Just keep going gently.
