Maybe you could try Danish oil, which comes in different colours you might be able to match it - I use a clear version on my dining table. If it were a dark wood I would suggest rubbing it with a walnut
Rub a wax crayon of the same colour into the sratch and then buff off.
Have you tried to rub it over with a brazil nut, always worked well for furniture
I've covered a multitude of sins with Briwax in various shades.
Learn to live with it as you'll get loads more. And stop staring at it:-)

Special wax crayons are the proper things to use.
Briwax will just continue to darken as the dirt gets in it.

Ahh but is it real oak or laminate?
The crayon is an interesting fix, but you could check with the manufacturer or the seller and they should have a recommended fix for the product. We did solid oak flooring a couple of years ago, and the manufacturer (Bruce) had color matched crayon and liquid filled squeeze tubes especially for their product...

Thanks everyone, I tried half vinegar and half olive oil rubbed on, it definitely got rid of the lighter colour of the scratch so looks much better. Even though it smells like a fish and chip shop now ... making me hungry !
