I would like to apply for a council flat in Wandsworth, London.

I come from Denmark and normally in my home country I would go to a company that owns the flats. Is it different in England? How long do you wait for the flat?

You can start from the Wandsworth Local Authority website:

No idea how long the waiting list is though - probably ages.

Do you specifically want a council flat batholomew?

Because there are also thousands of flats for rent from private landlords.

It will be much easier to rent a flat this way.
i would try your local council, housing associations and private landlords. you would find your local housing associations from doing a search on the internet, alternatively if you are going to your local council anyway they may be able to provide you with a list. the private sector housing department may also be able to provide you with a list of private landlords, or try www.fish4.co.uk and search for homes to let.
