I have a leather sofa which has developed a creaking noise. It is treated with respect. No kids jump on it etc. It is quite a heavy sofa and I think I may have pulled it out from the front underneath and it's caused it to creak.

How do I go about finding someone to look at it. I dont want to buy a new one as this one is still in excellent condition apart from the creak.

has it got wooden feet - try turning it on its back to see what is loose
Quite often the joints in the wooden carcase of the sofa become loose because of shrinkage of the wood in a centrally heated environment. Turn it on it's back and see if the feet have become loose, it may just be a matter of tightening the nuts or bolts that hold them on. If internal joints are loose it may be possible to re -glue them with polyurethane wood glue which expands as it sets to give a snug joint.
probably just contraction due to central heating.dont fuss maggie.sure too see you out if its goood quality.

Thanks. I will try and get someone to help me tip it over and check the feet.

It is a good quality sofa, that is probably why it is so heavy.. I tried tipping it the other day but it wouldn't move.

I had someone look at the sofa today and a piece of wood has cracked at the back on the bottom. He said the piece of wood would probably only cost about £10 but it is the labour that costs. He quoted me £250.
Does this sound reasonable.?
for a job of that price, I'd get an alternative quote too.
