Are all builders doggy and cut corners? Even the ones you have known for many years??

I’ve known this man for over 12 years I have given him many cash jobs. This one time I give him insurance job to do
Worth nearly 10K he gets greedy on me and cuts corners.
As soon as he was paid he the sink and the wc started to leak when I asked him he said he is not doing this fofr free he’s fee is over £65 an hour I said to him its not a new job it’s the one you completed couple of weeks ago.
Now he won’t answer the phone. Or call me.
Is there some one I can contact who can help me.?

Postage, I guess this is the sad tale we were discussing on your thread of a few days ago.
He's an ignorant, unprofessional idiot. Trading Standards must be your next option. Eventually you should take it to the Small Claims Court.
Itemise the faults clearly, and send him a simple letter asking for them to be remedied. Take a copy, plus all documentation, invoices, quotes etc, to Trading Standards. If they prevaricate, then see your local Citizens' Advice Bureau. Ask about Small Claims Court procedure.
Being only a small part of the whole job, the value of the faults should take you down to within the Small Claims threshold.
Don't despair......... and don't get angry ...... get the legal ball rolling.

postage, got any big mates who could pay him a visit, perhaps could convince him to pay back monies owed, or do the job properly. I hate that, getting ripped off by dodgy or doggy tradesmen.

No desire to offend those who help out on the forum but I treat all I get to quote, with suspicion. I tend to the believe that they are running a business and so have an incentive to get away with what they can and on to the next job. If there are good ones they are booked up until 2054 earliest, and don't wish to touch anything as trivial as the multi thousand £ work you require. So those you can get to agree to come out and look, and actually do so, may be the ones no one else is employing. Ok it may be an exaggeration but it's too darned close to my past experience. It's why I do anything I can tackle, myself. Last time I had a builder do work for me I spent years gradually correcting the bits that were wrong.

i was peed off last time when had to get a tradesman in to fix an appliance, as it wasn't anything i could tackle, and at the end of the 15 minute job, the toerag asked me for the money, which i paid plus VAT, which had not been mentioned when getting the quote. I should have refused, but wanted to get him out the door.
