pull out larder unit
6 Answers
Has anyone experienced problems with these pull out larder units. We have just had one fitted and it persists in coming off its moorings. The kitchen fitter comes back to re-do it with no problems but his opinion is that its overloaded. According to the website of the company we got it from (Howdens), each shelf can take a load of 14kg. That seemed a lot to me and in no way were the shelves loaded even to that level. Is there an inherent problem with these things in that they really won't take anything like the load they are supposed to - in which case they appear to be a very expensive shelving unit for very little purpose.

Fingers crossed we have not had any problems with it and I think we over load the shelves more than 14kg. Sorry you are having a problem with yours but i have just had a look at mine and I cannot see a way that mine could come of its moorings as everything is very securely screwed in.
I know this is late but might help someone. Just had a similar problem with our Howden 500mm pull-out larder unit - originally fitted end 2010. Pull out unit started to come off the top guide rail. Found the bottom of the carcass had bowed under the weight of the pull out unit despite never being overloaded, and was supported only by the plinth. Since we had our unit fitted Howdens have changed the installation instructions and now show an extra leg fitted centrally for support. Apparently can be post fitted to resolve the problem which we are going to try (shame Howdens didn't advise those who had purchased a kitchen once they became aware of the problem). Pity as otherwise we are very pleased with the kitchen and would recommend Howdens every time.
