Cleaning algae off brickwork
4 Answers
The lower 2/3 courses of brickwork (below the dampcourse) of the end wall of our house has green algae/fungi growing on it. I have tried several brands of fungicide/biocide to try and get rid of it but it keeps coming back.
Does anybody know of an ultimate killing solution to at least keep it at bay for more than a couple of months? Thanks, Sisi

A stiff brush and water will remove it quite easily. When the brickwork has dried apply another dose of diluted bleach and leave it. Not a permanent fix but certainly haven't needed to do it more than once/twice a year. Depends on the amount of rain. Regards. Bob
Have a look at www.lightclean.co.uk There is a catalytic coating which permanently stops algae growing. You do need to clean it off first.
