How to get marks off white painted walls?

Hi, We've moved into a flat that has white painted walls, only been in here a couple of weks but have got a few marks here and there. Has anyone got any idea how to get rid of them? I've used some detergent on one but its taken the paint off as well! please help! Thanks!

This paint is designed to be used on new plaster, it has no chemicals or additives in it, so it allows any moisture still in the substrate to pass through the paint film. I would look at repainting the walls with some vinyl emulsion, as you're not going to get rid of the marks.
BTW, landlords use this paint because it's cheap...About £14-00 for 10lts.
