Who are there?
Ours is in the shed at the back of the building, where the water comes in from the mains.
If there is room down the hole where your stop-tap is to your property (at the roadside) they may fit it there. Usually it goes under your kitchen sink if that's where the water comes into your house.
ours is on the pavement in front of our drive. I suppose it depends on where the mains enters your property.
My daughters is outside under the pavement
it won't go on your property as generally the pipe on their side of it is their responsibility and the pipe on the other side of it is yours
Probably another con. How can anyone check a water meter which is somewhere on the pavement? Even if I had access how would I know which was which? Live in a flat.

Thanks for your replies, see if it saves me any money. Xx
I know which hole my meter is in and can lift the small manhole easily...Its a good thing to be able to do as its the only way to stop the water running if your in house stop tap fails or needs changing.
Our meter is under the pavement, with an access lid to lift for reading the meter. My daughter had her fitted in a cupboard in her house, because there was no other place suitable.
We have never regretted having it put in, saves us so much money.
Haven't got one myself, but my next door neighbours' was fitted whilst they were on holiday, they dug up a small area of her block paved drive, installed the meter and made good. I had to tell them (the neighbours) it had been done, as they didn't need access to inside the property at all.
If you are on a common supply (the tap on the pavement feeds more than 1 house) they will fit it at the point of entry (where main enters your house), if you have your own tap in the pavement then they will fit it there, this takes 2 minutes if you have an ebco box or similar there, if not they will dig up pavement and fit you a new tap with a meter.
If you have the common supply they will fit it inline at point of entry by your internal stoptap, this should take no longer than 30 to 40 mins.
If you are on a common supply outside and have multiple points of entry inside you will not be able to have a meter, you then will have to ask for an assessed measured charge.
Next door have theres in the front garden just behind the wall. It is next to the stop tap
my meter is attached to the water pipe as it comes up through the floor in the utility cupboard (i'm in a first floor flat). the device that the water company scan to get the reading is outside my front door on the wall
In the pavement right outside.

It's quite useful, as it has a plastic stopcock next to it which turns easily and is so easy to find.
We're like scoob, our little manhole outside has a stopcock serving two houses - which is why our personal meter is where the water actually enters our house.

Like others, we have save hundreds of pounds since we had it fitted - wonderful - and we're not particularly careful with our water.
On the pavement. Done while I was out and easily accessed if I need to. Has saved me quite a lot of money in the year I have had it.

Thank you, how do you get billed, monthly or quaterly?
Kathryn xx
I pay a monthly direct debit. In the first year they will send me a balance at six months and then at year end.
We usually have a quarterly bill, with one of these being a meter reading from the water provider, to check the state of the meter.
